BACP Accredited Integrative Counsellor | Thoughtful, Collaborative Online Therapy
Being human is complicated, isn't it? We can understand ourselves quite well and still find ourselves feeling stuck, repeating patterns or living lives that don't quite feel like our own. I'm a BACP-accredited integrative counsellor, and my approach is curious, thoughtful and collaborative. I won't tell you what to think, but you can expect me to think with you. Together, we can explore what life feels like from where you're standing, without assuming there's a person you ought to become.

About me and my practice
I think there's something rather wonderful about how complicated we are, even when that complexity makes life difficult.
I'm Laura Harley, a BACP-accredited integrative counsellor and author. I've been working with people since 2014, and my approach is curious, thoughtful and collaborative. I'm interested in who you are, how you've come to be that person, and what life feels like from where you're standing.
I don't work from the assumption that you're a problem to be solved, or that there's a particular version of yourself you ought to become.
I believe therapy works best when there's room for two people to think together. I'll bring my experience, my observations and sometimes a different perspective, but I won't tell you what to think. Your life belongs to you, and so do the decisions you make about it.
We might explore relationships, grief, burnout, difficult experiences, identity, life transitions or the ways you've learned to protect yourself. Sometimes we'll make connections that feel important. Sometimes things won't make much sense at all. I'm comfortable with both. I don't believe every feeling needs an explanation or every conversation needs a breakthrough.
Some people come to therapy with a clear idea of what they want to explore. Others simply know that something doesn't feel right. You don't need to arrive with a neatly packaged explanation.
Alongside my counselling work, I'm an author who writes about the complexities of being human, the therapeutic relationship and the realities of working as a therapist.
I offer online counselling in English for adults, both short-term and longer-term. Sessions are £90/90, and I offer a free 30-minute introductory conversation so we can see whether working together feels right.
Experience
I've worked as a counsellor since 2014, supporting adults through a wide range of experiences, including grief and loss, relationship difficulties, trauma, burnout, identity questions and significant life changes.
I'm a BACP-accredited integrative counsellor, which means I draw on different therapeutic perspectives rather than working within a single model. My experience includes person-centred and attachment-informed approaches, with particular attention to the relationship between therapist and client.
Over the years, I've come to appreciate that people rarely fit neatly into categories or diagnoses. What appears to be one difficulty can be connected to many other aspects of someone's life, relationships and experiences. My work is grounded in curiosity about those connections, without assuming that everything needs to be explained or resolved.
Alongside my therapeutic practice, I'm an author. My writing explores the complexities of being human, the therapeutic relationship and the often overlooked realities of working as a therapist.
I continue to develop my practice through professional learning, reflection and supervision. What remains central to my work is a respect for each person's autonomy and the belief that therapy is something we do together, rather than something I do to you.
